These plants are native to Madagascar and Polynesia, and the oil is often used in Polynesian traditional medicine. Foraha oil develops inside the nuts as they are dried for eight weeks after being harvested. Then, the nuts are pressed to extract the oil. Foraha is also known as Tamanu and has an intense, nutty aroma.
