For sale here is an 8' 3/2 5wt F.E. Thomas bamboo rod, expertly restored by Steve Blake. This is an early rod with English twist guides and darkly stained bamboo, possibly an early/proto-Mahogany although impossible to say for sure without a ledger entry or hang tag. Golden brown windings with full intermediates, blued ferrules fit perfectly, and the sections are straight & full length. Skeleton cork grip is clean and smooth, and the pocketed butt cap retains the FE Thomas "Special" stamp. All the bluing is perfect, and the rod looks unused, post-restoration. The butt cap has a "6" in bullseye with a dot below the number. Weight is 3.84oz. Medium, full flexing action, best with a DT5. A nice restored example of an early FET. Sold in the original bag and tube
